Most of my family lives spread out all over the country and it used to be quite a task keeping in touch with them. About a year ago I got hughes net internet service, which opened my eyes to social networking. I got started on Myspace, then eventually Facebook. It was really cool to be able to connect with my cousins and my brother's family. We never really got to catch up unless we went to the family reunions, which only take place once a year. Now that I can access my social networking sites with my phone, they can always share what is going on with them in their lives at all times with me.
I like that I can talk to them at any time also if I am feeling down or gloomy, and need support. We all used to be restricted to paying high long distance fees to be able to talk, or just send emails. Now we have a fully interactive experience that is quite enjoyable thanks to hughes satelite equipment prices, especially with all of the new Facebook features. We can share pictures with each other in a matter of seconds, which makes us seem like we are not quite as far away as we really are. Even my Grandma gets on Facebook now, which is pretty cute if you ask me. It is more fun than anything else to do online, that is for sure!
