Monday Movie Meme: Overlooked Gems

There are a couple of movies that unknown to many are worth watching despite the fact that they were never recognized in the Oscars.

This is my share...

Terry is having an affair with his boss' wife Sylvia. One night after an office party they are together and Sylvia witnesses an attack on Denise from Terry's bedroom window. She doesn't want to expose their relationship and so is reluctant about talking to the police. Terry, wanting to help, gives the police the description of the attacker. He soon becomes the main suspect in the case. He then sets to find the real rapist/killer with some help from victim Denise.

Jack Nicholson re-teams with his “Five Easy Pieces” director in this noir crime drama about a lowlife in Florida planning a jewelry heist who brings in an even lower life (brilliantly played by Michael Caine) as his partner. On top of that he has a bitter, angry wife (Judy Davis), a suspicious and resentful stepson and a sexy Latin mistress (Jennifer Lopez) with an agenda all her own. This is a well thought out crime drama with meticulous details that help bring everything together.

A firm believer in the Holy Quran, Samir Horn, American citizen and former soldier, lives a middle-classed lifestyle along with his girlfriend, Chandra Dawkin. He is actively involved in selling explosives to Jihadis. While in a Yemeni prison, Samir is attacked, and another inmate, Omar, comes to his aid. Both men become close friends, subsequently escape from prison, re-locate to France and elude authorities for some time. Both men re-enter the U.S., meet with Fareed Mansour and Nathir, and together they plan to place bombs in 50 Greyhound buses (one for each State). Using modern sophisticated methods - the foursome recruit 50 volunteers to carry out this gruesome task, quite confident that they will not be stopped in time by the U.S. authorities.

This week is really a wonderful topic as we can share what movies we missed. Head out to the Bumbles Blog with guest blogger Terry Kate. Click image below.
