Nostalgia #11: White Chairs @ Miravilla Restaurant

One of our favorite restaurants in Bohol is the Miravilla Restaurant. They have a very tasty green mango shake. This restaurant offers fresh fish and seafood where you can choose and then tell the chef how you want it cooked. We always treat the family every time we visit.

For my first visit... Lulu and I took picture at the white chair. We were excited to do the same on the second visit. On our third visit (together with Andrea), it was our plan to take another picture in the chair as a family. Too bad... the chairs were no longer there. I wish they kept the chair because it has become our tradition.

Share you nostalgic moments every Thursday at Nostalgic Marveling.

Digital newsprint

Guest post written by Jeremy Hart

Gone are the days that my recycling bin is packed with old newspapers. I work in politics – behind the scenes – so I have to make sure that I keep up with everything that’s going on in the country and world. Now I just subscribe to newspapers online instead.

Every morning when I get up, I make sure to flip on my laptop immediately and use my wildblue satellite internet to go through the morning’s news. Normally I start with the politics and give myself room to breathe with some lifestyle, and arts and entertainment stuff.

I also check my Google reader with my satellite internet Michigan that I found through wildblue internet pricing to read up on recent posts from important political blogs so I can spot any political disasters or conundrums before I head into the office and think them over during my commute.

This has bought us some extra time a few times, like when we learned that another area politician that my boss works with owed money to the IRS. As a result, we were able to turn out a press release and prepare our official statement with the media after I forwarded the breaking story to my co-workers.

Summer Safety Tips For Kids

Posted by Noble Stephens

When summer arrives there are many more precautions you will need to take to keep the kids safe. Here are tips for keeping your children safe and sound all summer long!

Outdoor Safety

Summer days can be hot and very humid, which is hard on the body.

  • Keep children well hydrated by supplying plenty of water.
  • Also offer a snack to replenish the energy the heat take away.
  • Sunscreen should be applied before heading outdoors and again every 2 hours.
  • Sunscreen should contain an SPF of 15 or higher.
  • Dress in light colored clothing, and wear hats and sunglasses at all times.

Home safety

  • If kids are old enough to stay home alone, ensure that you have installed an ADT securityalarm for extra protection.
  • teach children the importance of stranger danger and not answering the door or telephone.
  • Keep windows locked at all times.
  • Curtains and shades should be over all windows so noone may see inside.

Bicycle Safety

Bikes make summer fun for children! There are safety tips to remember for bike safety as well.

  • Make sure the bicycle your child is riding is appropriate for their size and not to small or large for them.
  • Children should always wear a safety helmet as well as knee and elbow pads to prevent serious injury.

Hot Weekend

The heat is almost at the point of being unbearable. The heat index reached at 110F. It was a really hot weekend for us but we have to get out as weekends are the only chance that we can get out of the house and some things.

We visited Mom and Dan (as we always do during weekend) and in the late afternoon we let Andrea swim in her portable pool with bubbles in it. She had a blast.

Today, we went to the mall to cool off. The mall has too many people in it that it was even hot there. We bought some toys for Andrea and Lulu had her cinnamon sticks! We really didn't stay long in the mall.

Lulu cooked chicken and dumplings for dinner. It was great! We haven't had chicken and dumplings in a long time and we are enjoying it.

Despite having a very hot weekend... we had fun and we bonded as family! Hope your weekend was great!

Fashionholic

I admit that my wife is very fashionable. She always dresses good and like most women she has her collection of shoes and purses. I guess that part of her is in her Filipino blood. (Remember Imelda Marcos and her shoe collection).

When she saw the dereon robin chain royal jean she fell in love with it right away. I think it is really perfect for her though. There are many dereon products that are on sale right now, and obviously my wife is at it... wherever the sale is, you can always find my wife there. I am not complaining though as she is really a frugal shopper!
